I have to agree with Eleanor if my children were given packing peanuts to gnaw on at Daycare it would be their last day attending that center!

I love the cornstarch peanuts. They are recommended for ferrets as dig boxes, because if they accidently swallow a piece you don't need to rush them into surgery! I've gotten so many AG orders with them that I started giving them away to other ferret owners. Sigh...I have gotten a few orders with the mixed in styrafoam and it's no fun trying to sort the two apart, but I live in dry colorado so no problem with them dissolving before they get here.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, I'm being a smarty about the Mattel vs. PM stuff. But there was definitely a mix of biodegradable and styrofoam. Hopefully it was just a mix-up...AG always prides themselves on their environmentally friendly packing materials. Last week, my big box with Penny was filled with the cornstarch/baking soda ones. Love those...just dump them down the disposal and pour water on them.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">WHAT?!?!? Okay, I am officially APPALLED that a daycare center would give babies packing peanuts to chew on! Kids don't know the difference...what happens when the baby picks up a styrofoam one and starts eating it? Please, please, please tell your friend to mention this to her supervisor. You can't begin to imagine what a stink I'd make as a parent if someone gave these to my children. (shaking head) Man, this is going to bother me all night now!

I wonder what the biodegradable peanuts taste like...

I remember getting those peanuts when I ordered my Molly months ago, but I threw them out. Somehow I figure they would taste like Cheetos, but without the cheese dust. LOL.

About ten years ago I went to I think it was bring your daughter to work day or something and they had all these new products for us to test. One of them was those packing peanuts. They said they would be marketing them and that in the future they would be the only thing used in packaging. I guess they found out they melted. I remember it was okay to lick them because they are cornstarch based, and we made all sorts of towers and stuff with them. It was really fun.

Remember that those peanuts have to be treated with something so that they don't get rats and roaches in the warehouses that they get stored in. Don't eat something based on it being made of something edible. Not to mention that when I worked in shipping we frequently dropped shipping supplies on a VERY dusty floor and still used them
